US Navy ZR-1 Airship USS Shenandoah
Here is an original bookplate illustration from the book, Man's Conquest of the Air, published in the 1920s. Unfortunately, the book was not in a condition where it could be saved to be read another time, but this plate is still looking very good though about 100 years old.
This US Navy ZR-1 airship was the USS Shenandoah, the first of four US Navy rigid airships, lost in 1925 while flying over the state of Ohio. Fourteen men lost their lives, 29 survived.
The plate of US Navy ZR-1 is currently on sale in GrandmaHen's Treasure Shop on Etsy. There is one original copy to be purchased by the right buyer. Shipped free in the U.S.A.
